I start planning, researching, and creating my Christmas and holiday content on September first. Throughout the busy, important holiday season for affiliate bloggers and content creators, I keep researching, examining trends, looking at keywords, and adjusting my content strategy.
Let’s look at what a few major retailers are stocking for Christmas 2024, to find out current trends in several product niches: home decor, tabletop, food, toys, books, and gifts.
These companies plan their Christmas merchandise and product selection years out, especially the companies that have products made for them. They spend massive amounts of money on product research and trending, so we don’t have to. We simply spend time carefully browsing the products they’ve chosen to carry and showcase for the 2024 holiday season.

Crate and Barrel Christmas 2024 Trends
Crate and Barrel is featuring garlands, ornaments, holiday decor, Christmas trees, wreaths, tree toppers/collars/skirts, holiday bedding, entertaining, cookware, baking, gifts, and candy in categories on their Christmas front page right now (as of this writing in mid September, 2024).
Their suggested hashtag is #cratestyle .
In the Christmas stockings area, I see lots of attention to texture. The stockings they are carrying are plush, fluffy, or thickly knitted. Colors are a rich red, forest green, beige, cream or white (with a very occasional gray or brown Christmas stocking on offer).
In Wreaths, Crate and Barrel stocks mostly botanical, nature themed faux wreaths. Many of them are pre-lit.
In Entertaining, they’ve gone all in on the Christmas tree motif, with dark forest green, wintry woods and white pinecones. They seem to have chosen Cherry Red and Spruce Green as color motifs for napkins, drinkware and table accessories. They’ve continued the emphasis on texture, with table runners and napkins featuring texture or fringe.
Crate and Barrel incorporates just a few “holly and berries” themes in their offerings. There are several “white pinecone” and “snowman” offerings including mugs and bowls.
In the Christmas Baking area, I see some unusual offerings I haven’t seen from other companies this year include a snowflake oven to table casserole and a Christmas tree-shaped oven to table casserole. There’s a cute gnome tea infuser that no other company carries. The forest and snowflake themes continue here, along with the dark green and cherry red colors they’re utilizing for Christmas 2024. They also have a line of “Arctic friends” including birds, polar bears, penguins, and reindeer.
As a nod to midcentury fans, a nostalgic set of double old fashioned glasses and coupe glasses feature atomic space age stars in gold on the glass. I expect to see many companies utilizing nostalgic themes during this anxiety-inducing, nerve wracking election cycle. (See this NY Times article, “Why We Reach for Nostalgia in Times of Crisis.”)
Crate and Barrel’s Christmas Ornaments are categorized into Red and Green, Metallic, White and Wood, and Animal. I’m seeing a lot of emphasis on texture in the ornaments as well, plus lots of wintry forest trees. They continue utilizing plaid, and lots of gold star shapes.
In the Christmas Decor category, they’ve subdivided their products into
