When you feel like you’re running out of ideas for products to film shoppable videos on, and you’re willing to invest in some new items, you can use Amazon’s shopping app’s image search function to find inspiration.

I create a lot of Christmas content, and sometimes I feel like I’m stuck in a rut. Here’s a way I found to discover new products or brands I hadn’t thought of exploring.

I hadn’t thought to search for “red Christmas candles,” and these Rocinha LED flameless candles might not have shown up on my search right away even if I had.

I found them because I pointed my iPhone’s camera at a red Christmas candle I already own and have in my house, and used the shopping app’s image search to look for it. My exact candle never showed up, but these items (including some tabletop Christmas trees and a snowflake glass from the Abbott Collection) turned up. I have posted videos about Abbott Collection glassware before, and it hadn’t occurred to me to go look to see if they had any holiday items, such as these Snowflake glasses.

Once you find the items via an Amazon search (I use my desktop computer, not my phone, to help me work faster and more efficiently) you can look at each individual item more closely. Amazon will show you “Frequently Bought Together” recommendations as well as “Consider these similar items” that you can use to explore further and discover even more product ideas.

You’ll want to continue your research by looking at the price point and possible commission rate (the $19.00 snowflake glasses would only earn me less than 50 cents commission per sale for example) Of course, you’ll make better sales if you post your shoppable videos and content to your large, engaged offsite following, rather than just relying on onsite traffic.

Amazon may or may not place your shoppable video in the carousel for that item, so you’ll want to share your video to Pinterest, TikTok, and your YouTube shoppable video channel as applicable.
